Firstly, welcome and thank you for signing up as a member of Careers Club.
On the day we launched the club, I sat in my office watching you all sign up as members. I cannot explain how happy I felt as I had always known there was a gap in the market for an on line club that supported women in their careers. For me, Careers Club also provides me with personal opportunity to share my own success tips and advice with you. After 25 years of working in banking in the City of London, I have learnt a number of valuable lessons, all of which I plan to share with you over the coming year. I have also engaged with a number of senior females across the UK and have been overwhelmed with how keen they have all been to get involved and support you all through webinars, guest calls and blog posts. For me this is the way it should be, women helping other women to succeed.
I think it is important to note that despite the various advice and ideas that we provide via Careers Club, your career decisions ultimately come from you. I have found during my work with 1000’s of women that there is no ‘one shoe fits all’ formula or approach that ensures success. Every woman and every career path is different and at the end of the day we all have to make our own decisions that are ultimately right for us as individuals. We will discuss this topic in more depth later in the year.
Now you are full fledged members of Careers Club there are a few things I need you to do. Firstly, please could update your profiles and add a picture if you possibly can. I would like Careers Club members to get to know each other as this will enable us to create a club community on line and hopefully over time, in person. Secondly, when you get 5 minutes, I would like you to have a little play around the different sections of the site. One area of focus is the resources section, here you can download an ebook, watch a webinar or read one of our fab articles. I will explain all the existing functionality that is available on Careers Club when we speak on our kick off call on the 15th of October.
I have also noticed a number of you have recommended friends to the club too, thank you. I would like to see more friends of friends joining the club, so to incentivise you all, we have introduced 10% cash back for existing members who recommend the club to others as a thank you. All they have to is a) join the club as part of the annual option and b) place your name in the “where did you hear about Careers Club” field on their sign up form. We will then send you 10% of their membership fee as a thank you for the recommendation.
I really want you to enjoy these next few months as club members. The up coming webinars on Confidence (Oct), Negotiation (Nov) and Performance (Dec) will be fantastic, however in January, the hard work really begins as we are going to start to look at your plans and goals for 2015. I am personally leading the January booster calls and the planning and goals webinar as I want you to start 2015 on the right track and soar towards your goals and your own personal measures of success.
