Future First has been working with state schools and colleges for over four years, building communities of former students who can offer their support to benefit current students.
Recently, the charity has partnered with the City of London Corporation in a bid to introduce students in the City fringe boroughs – Hackney, Camden, Islington, Tower Hamlets and Southwark – to City jobs. 48 schools and colleges in these boroughs are already signed up to Future First’s alumni programme, with 21 of these being sponsored by the City of London Corporation.
Future First are looking for City volunteers who are happy to go back to their old school to be involved in a short careers event, talking about their experiences since leaving school. Over 75% of students say they want to work harder in school as a result of such events.
If you went to a state school or college, either in the City fringes or further afield, we’d love to hear from you. It doesn’t matter if you no longer live nearby or haven’t got much time to give, there are still ways you can offer your support. All you need to do is register your interest here and you’ll be kept up to date with news from your old school/college and ways you might be able to help.
